Welcome to your new Captain for 2018

Having joined Druids Heath as a Junior in the 1970s, I am delighted to have been elected to be the Club Captain for the 2017 golfing season. I have seen the course develop from its early beginnings into what is now, 43 years on, a well presented lay-out that provides an enjoyable challenge to all golfers, whatever their standard. Both I, and the members are proud of the course, its reputation and the excellent hospitality that the bar and catering teams offer outside of the golf.

All sections of the club, Juniors, Gents, Ladies and Seniors, enter teams in the golf leagues across the Midlands, also supporting social inter-club matches. We look forward to welcoming golfer representing other clubs to Druids Heath, as well as corporate, society and individual visitors through 2018. We believe we can offer a package to suit everyone so please call the club with your specific requirements – I'm sure we will be able to offer something to your liking!

I have no doubt that the members will support me through the 2018 season and whilst we will enjoy our golf through 2018, we look forward to welcoming visitors who I'm sure will appreciate what the club offers. It is my pleasure to wish members and visitors of Druids Heath a successful and prosperous golfing season.

Tom Beard plays for the England Golf Disabled Team

It has been a brilliant year so far, off the back of my hard work last year I gained a place in the England Disabled Golf Team (@EDGT). Being a Club Foot golfer is a challenge within itself, but this brought along many more challenges to over come, the biggest of which was being selected to play against France in Dunkirk. This was a huge honour to represent my country for the first time, and it was an extremely close match coming down to me holing a 10 foot putt on the 18th green. This meant that our 6 man squad beat France, the reigning European Champions on French soil, which was incredible!

My next challenge was competing in The England Disabled Open, at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club. This was the third time playing in this event with me getting my best finish, ending the tournament in 5th place. This was a great feat to compete against the best players Great Britain has to offer, also others from further afield such as Sweden and France. This has cemented my place in the England squad, and qualified me to enter into The Portugal Disabled Open (Algarve Open) to play against the top 60 players in the world. The tournament takes place on 23rd – 25th November 2017. I am so proud to be representing my club and country abroad and to gain my first ever World Ranking position!

My future aspirations are to continue to progress in the England Team, and one day be picked for Team GB at the Paralympic games; once golf gets the bid accepted for the 2024 games.

Local Pro James Adams Wins Euro Pro Event

James Adams carded rounds of 70, 65, and 66 to win the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour’s Clipper Logistics Championship by four shots, claiming his second tour win of the year.

Full Leaderboard

Adams (Druids Heath Golf Club), who had already tasted victory at the Motocaddy Masters at Wychwood Park Golf Club, collected just a single bogey across 54 holes at Moor Allerton Golf Club.

“I feel great, it is hard to put the win into words but it makes everything worth it.”: said Adams, who wins £10,000 as well as a brand new Motocaddy S3 PRO electric trolley with lithium battery, Bushnell Pro X2 Range Finder and Bolle sunglasses.

He added: “It’s probably the best I’ve ever played in a tournament. The weather was really tough, especially on the first day with the wind and heavy rain. The last two days have been great, to go bogey free across two rounds isn’t the norm for me.”

In total, Adams collected 13 birdies over 54 holes to win comfortably. His second win moves him to 5th in the Race To Amendoeira, from which the top five at the end of the season earn promotion to the Challenge Tour.

Adams’ second round was the joint lowest of the tournament, followed by a final round of 66 – the second lowest in a fantastic final round – a stellar effort taking into consideration a trophy was on the line.

On the chance of earning promotion to the Challenge Tour Adams said: “I haven’t really thought about it, I’ve never been in a better position in my career. I’ve played well this year, it’s really tough at this level with under-par cuts every week. I’m really looking forward to going out to Portugal and extending my season a little bit.”
