Club Officials at Druids Heath Golf Club Ltd

2022 Captain: Steve Jennings

I am extremely proud and honoured to be appointed as Druids Heath Golf Club Captain for the 2022 golfing year.

Throughout the forthcoming season I have several golfing events planned, including a two day Captain’s away day in August 2022 and a Charity AM/AM in early June 2022 with fantastic prizes. Full details will be made available in the near future.

I have also organised a number of social events, and would welcome the support of both members and non-members in attending these functions.

My chosen Charity this year is Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

This is a cause close to my heart, as when they were young babies both of my grandsons were under the hospital and the service they received was first class. Birmingham Children’s Hospital is one of the UK’s leading specialist paediatric centres, caring for 90,000 sick children and young people every year. It is a world leader in some of the most advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting edge research and
development. It is also home to one of the largest Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in the country. Your support of this Charity will aid the Hospital in continuing it’s fantastic work for children.

Wishing you all happy golfing for 2022!

2022 Lady Captain: Maxine Phillips

It’s an honour and privilege to be asked to be Lady Captain for 2022.

As a relative newcomer to golf, having taken up the game just three and a half years ago, I’d like to thank the Ladies Section for welcoming me (and all the other new-to-golf ladies) into the Section and helping me to fit in. I’m so pleased to be taking on the role at a time when golf seems to be thriving again, and look forward to representing the Ladies Section and welcoming new members to our great Club.

My chosen charity for the year is St Giles Hospice which is the eighth largest hospice in the UK, with sites in Whittington and Sutton Coldfield. It costs £10 million to enable the Hospice to deliver care locally to 7500 people each year and fundraising support is vital to meet a growing need for its services.

I’ll be arranging a number of ladies golf events during 2022 to raise funds for this worthy cause, the main one being Ascot Ladies’ Day on Thursday 16th June. The Men’s Section will be invited to join the ladies in a morning shotgun mixed greensomes competition followed by an afternoon watching the races in the Clubhouse. I hope to see a great turnout on the day.

I join Steve, our Club Captain in wishing you all a great golfing year in 2022.
